  1. This is a big one! Can’t wait to listen.

  2. I’m sure I taped a bunch of episodes of Captain Power, but I don’t know that I ever watched them a second time. I still say “Motha Brain!!!” like in the opening any time I think or hear Mother Brain, though.

  3. Cool, blow me

  4. love the Bazooie overclocked remix

  5. I guess this’ll be the closest we’ll get to “A Word To The Wise”…

That Bazooie remix was used to close out Talkradar 9X. Good times…

Also, this obviously brings up the question of when will you do a Donkey Kong Country episode. Obviously DKC2 is the best soundtrack overall, but DKC1 and 3 both have excellent tracks, and the OST’s have different sounds altogether.

PS Brett, you said something about taking community input on episodes. Is that still happening, or are you waiting for when you run out of ideas?

  6. Thanks for another lovely cast, I have listened to the Ys and battle music eps more than 10x each!

  7. Interesting, I’ll give this a listen

  8. Just some awesome music from a game I had never heard of ^^

  9. Man, I love the music in this series. Unfortunately, I haven’t finished the episode yet because something happened with my download file, but I loved what I heard so far.

  10. me blow, cool

  11. Good ep. I had both Wizards & Warriors and its sequel Iron Sword (hi, Fabio) in cartridge form, but I played both only a few times. I do recall the excellent music. I’m surprised you didn’t include any of the rock covers that The Minibosses and The Advantage did, they’re great.

Oh, and expect an email from me in the coming days. I’ll try not to keep it solely Breath of Fire-related!

  12. Nice episode. Recognised a lot of these tracks from talkradar

  13. i love david wise

  14. I have been listening to VG BGM for over 25yrs. I have an ear for games music. And your show is a delight. Keep up the great podcast!

  15. This episode took a while to grow on me but I am loving it now. Perfectly edited snippets of these songs

  16. Excellent episode Brett. I have never even heard of this series but damn the songs were pretty awesome.

  17. This was great, Icefire Mountain was particularly enjoyable.

  18. That Cheddar remix is awesome.

  19. Ahh crap, it was the Bazooie one I really like.

  20. The original Wizards and Warriors was the first game I ever rented. The fact that I could pay 2 dollars to play a new NES game blew my 5 year old mind.

  21. […] recently discussed the long-dead Wizards & Warriors series in VGMpire, and even during a podcast solely about music I couldn’t help but talk about the seemingly […]

  22. Brelston,
Did it ever occur to you that the Thieves’ Guild theme gets progressively more minimalistic because the notes were stolen? Because I thought of it.
