  1. Boo-ya!! It’s always a treat to have a new episode dropped in my lap during 3rd-shift factory work! This just gave me a second-wind. Thanks Brelston!

  2. Finally I can get my fix of brett elston

  3. oh that is totally creepy, we JUST talked about mutant league football at work yesterday! awesome, good job brett

  4. yess, cast on my bday! This should be fun.

  5. There’s a sore lack of Tecmo Super Bowl in this episode! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PBvOxicz-0

I’m in no way a sports fan but I must say that they tend to have some great music.

This only sort of counts, but indie RPG Barkley: Shut Up and Jam Gaiden has some awesome music. Yeah, it’s technically a parody JRPG, but it’s got an impressive amount of Space Jam lore and enough basketball references that I think it would count: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8LBHgOiilI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWKQiZVBtu4

Other ones that came to mind include Super Tennis’ music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db6kcx6pcEo and Mario Power Tennis (composed by Motoi Sakuraba): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Amxo3a-w_k

I can’t believe you guys actually played “Sports!” from Tim & Eric. This is the greatest podcast ever. It’s been getting funnier with each episode. From not bleeping out Chris’ “shitwater” utterance to the Linkin Park-styled vocals, this is just golden.

I hope your playing a track from a Capcom game means you’re opening up to featuring some more Capcom music on the podcast! Gotta have them Breath of Fires.

  6. Those Golf Power songs sound exactly like The Cure. Who knew sprots games had so much wonderful music?

  7. All I could hear during the Super Punch Out Minor Circuit music was Starfox Corneria music

    There’s a similarity there, yes?

  8. I love it when the more obscure episodes get the meatier commentary. It’s a good way to balance out the fan-intake.

  9. As seemingly one of the only huge sports fans of the Laser TIme audience, I love when you guys do anything sports-related. I have obscure sports game music out of my ass, but here are just a few of my favorites (classics) that you didn’t mention:

(SNES) Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball –
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeKqZkSSCuw (goes crazy around 23 seconds)

    (SNES) Tecmo Super Bowl –
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrvfZVpTWE8

    (SNES) NBA Jam –
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ys8bXY3YEVY

Definitely popular games and music but maybe some of you missed out on them if you aren’t fans of sports. Give ’em a listen, you won’t regret it.

Great episode, I’m crossing my fingers for another vaguely sports-related Laser Time for the Super Bowl!

  10. And MAJOR bonus points for including Magic Johnson’s Fast Break and Captain Tsubasa, my brothers and I always thought those are own little secrets.

  11. There was actually a lot of good music this episode. Shame that all sports games now just have licensed music but to be fair, the Fifa soundtracks have been great the past couple of years

  12. Dude. That first song is PUMPIN AS FUCK.

  13. Awesome choice for an episode. There really is some awesome music in these sports games. A little disappointed that both Blades of Steel and Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball were both mentioned but not played. Those two are both great. I also really like Roger Clemens MVP Baseball for the NES but not because it is good video game music. I actually like it because it is so bad and cheesy. Thanks for the episode. Keep up the awesome job!!

  14. Loved it. I saw the Mike Tyson’s punch-out character and I immediately thought of Perry Bible Fellowship. If you haven’t seen “Punch Bout”, here you go:

  15. Hey, great choices. I hadn’t heard some of these. It seems you were focusing on the earlier stuff, no doubt because the recent sports tunes tend to be licensed. At any rate, you gotta check out Dreamcast Virtua Tennis, soccer and the like. It’s all classic Satriani-esque Sega Rock, but very good. Hey, check out Virtua Tennis in any case. I get together with a couple of guys every couple months for a game night, and no matter what games we have in front of us, we always come back to 4-player DC Tennis. It’s like crack and cocoa puffs.

  16. […] Distinct from Pixelated Audio is PixelTunes Radio, a show you can catch on iTunes OR on YouTube. Their most recent episode (as of this writing) is a sports show that tackles (HA!) a lot of different songs than our own Cavalcade of Sports. […]
