Little late to the party on this one, but if somehow you haven’t heard the news and praise, OCR’s gone and released a massive 74-track remix album dedicated to Final Fantasy VI (or III if you’re one of THOSE PEOPLE). As with all of OCR’s projects, the genre spread is pretty wide, so expect rock, trance, orchestral and everything in between.

Here’s just one example  – Danny B’s (of Super Meat Boy fame!) take on the kickass boss tune “The Decisive Battle.” We played that for ya back in Episode 15 y’know.

Hop over to the official site and start downloadin’ away!

  1. FF II vs. FF 5 and FF III vs FF 6 will haunt me to my dying days. I can never remember the ‘real’ japanese version. Curse you squaresoft!

  2. Let’s not forget to mention Jake “virt” Kaufman’s remix, The Impresario. It’s the Opera Scene, redone as a Rock Opera in the style of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. It is perhaps one of the greatest things my ears have ever heard.

  3. In all honesty, if people still refer to VI as III, they need to crawl out of the rock they’ve been dwelling in 😉

    • Update: EVERYONE listen to Jake “virt” Kaufman’s and Tommy Pedrini’s “The Impresario.” It’s Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” meets Final Fantasy VI’s opera sequence and it’s GLORIOUS.

  4. Oh, Awesome! I knew they were working on this, but didn’t know it had been released yet! I’ll definitely be downloading this after work today.

  5. Yeah I gave em $10 with the Kickstarter. It’s an awesome album although a few tracks are not to my liking. Zircon, Flexstyle, Leitbur, SnappleMan, Palpable and Disco Dan’s tracks were all my fav though.

  6. NICE!
i hadn’t heard of this. thanks for the post!

  7. I’ve listened to half of it, and I’m a little disappointed none of it sounds like Super Nintendo music, lots of it is orchestral stuff that sounds like what you’ll hear from games today, just with tunes you loved in FFIII. Not bad, but I’d hoped for more gamey music.

  8. Backed this the second I heard about it.

I really enjoyed it too. Some artists have more of a familiar sound than others, but it’s great for finding new VG music artists.

  9. LOVE YOUR SHOW MAN KEEP GOING! (and i know inappropriate place and timing but i felt ya needed it. )

  10. […] on the heels of Balance and Ruin comes the Eevee EP, a nine track tribute to Eevee and its many evolutions. You can grab it (for […]
